I’m shooting this podcast episode from Missouri, and I had an experience while taking a flight for our family reunion.

I asked if my wife and I could sit separately from our boys so that we could get a little extra leg room, and she explained why she had the overall say and discouraged not having us with them.

Though I would have liked to sit with more leg room for our 3 hour flight, I took the time to listen to what she had to say and was workable. I sat with my boys and it was a great flight.

In return, this flight attendant was very gracious in return.

What’s the lesson of all of this?

Don’t be afraid to ask.

But most importantly, make sure that you listen.

I ask, and when I receive, I take action.

And always remember to be humble.

There are a lot of entitled people out there, but if you ask, listen, and be humble, you will find great strength throughout all areas of your life.

Be open and be teachable. It works.

Ask yourself:

* Do I ask for what I want and then listen for the answers?

* What can I do to improve one area of my life that I’ve wanted to grow?

* Where have I needed to practice more humility?

If you knew how short life is, you would take more time to ask, listen and be humble in order to live the remainder of your life as one that matters.
