Growing and Getting Better Instead of Shrinking and Getting Bitter

One reason I love watching the new 007 James Bond is because he always seem so cool, calm and collected. No matter what’s happening to him, he has the ability to just get better.
Whether he’s being chased down by a speeding boat with guns firing at him or running across rooftops chasing his target he always seems to have the most important thing under control…himself.
When the heat of the moment sets in what do you do? While the answer is obvious, doing the common thing is actually uncommon.
A rookie pilot might think it better to speed up in turbulence…
A new driver accidentally hits the gas when rattled…
An inexperienced quarter back under pressure throws a pick six (interception for a touchdown)…
A young salesman loses confidence in himself and loses the sale because the buyer feels that loss of confidence…
A driver cuts one driver off and then the other driver chases him down and cops arrive at the scene to a very bad situation…
One small bump turns into a bigger bump. One small failure leads to more failure until an old-aged man looks back at his life wondering “What happened?”
The ability to grow and get better is an absolute must in today’s economy.
Nobody wakes up as a young 5 year old and says “I want to be miserable, broke, unhappy and unhealthy when I grow up.”
But what happens? Something small turns into something big and something big turns into something bigger.
When adversity and tragedy strike are you growing and getting better or are you shrinking and getter bitter?
Unsuccessful, unfulfilled and unhappy people shrink and get bitter. They can’t seem to let go and let God.
I love the truth that says “Someone who gets better whenever he fails will always outperform someone who responds to failure by getting worse.”
Growing and getting better is NOT something in your DNA. It is something you learn. It is also something you unlearn.
Don’t shrink and get bitter, instead grow and get better.
When the economy hits you in the pockets…grow and get better.
When someone speaks ill of you or wrongs you…grow and get better.
When you lose money on an investment…grow and get better.
When you lose your business or a job…grow and get better.
When you feel the pressure of financial stress in your life…grow and get better.
When fear strikes its venom in you and prevents you from acting…grow and get better by taking MASSIVE ACTION.
When you are tired, worn out and exhausted…grow and get better.
Growing and getting better has many forms.
The most common are: taking action in spite of fear, loving and forgiving, doing what is right regardless of what others are doing, pushing through and enduring difficult times, not quitting easily or quitting too early before the results come, being patient and humble.
Growing and getting better comes from having a perspective and vision that expands beyond just “here and now.”
Growing and getting better is NOT easy. In facts it’s much harder to grow and get better than it is to just sit and do nothing. Bitterness comes as a result of not consciously growing and getting better.
Choosing to grow and getting better may not work for you the first time. In fact you might fail at it the first 10 times because you haven’t trained your mind, body and heart to grow and get better through adversity and trials. But like a pianist who masters the craft and art through repetition and daily mundane practices…the Creator who chooses to persist until he/she succeeds will grow and get better.
Inevitably as the sun rises each day…as gravity pulls objects back to earth and as a good seed sends forth good fruit…growing and getting better will always lead to greater success, fulfillment and greater happiness.
Ironically wealth is a byproduct of happy people serving others more effectively through products, services, solutions and experiences.
Grow and Get Better Today…It really is the only way to live.
In the beginning I made mention of James Bond 007. For a character like 007 we already know that in the end he wins.
Our lives are like movies. Sure there will be losses, heartache, failure and speed bumps that send us flying out of control…but in the end I already know like a movie on the big screen that we will come out victorious IF we choose to grow and get better with each moment that passes.
Like a movie I already know the outcome of my life, therefore my daily job is to toil with all my might day in and day to grow and get better or I can let life get the better of me and shrink and get bitter.
I choose to grow and get better.
What about you?

This has been a tough one for me lately. It feels like I’m constantly being bombarded by the economy fear.
My favorite part in what you said was: “Like a movie I already know the outcome of my life, therefore my daily job is to toil with all my might day in and day to grow and get better or I can let life get the better of me and shrink and get bitter. I choose to grow and get better.”
Thanks for being an anchor for me, Setema! You’re awesome!!!

Quinn…thanks for the message. Everyone faces it. Everyone I know has that little seed of doubt and fear that continually creeps around our mind like a thief in the night. It’s ironic because fear doesn’t want to manifest itself in it’s real form because we will easily recognize it for what it is and move past it. Instead, like a bully, like a thief…it’s only power comes from us being afraid of the unknown. Fear shows itself with disguises like laziness, disbelief, lack of hope, lack of faith and procrastination. When we see everyone around us succeeding we can be sure that they too have fear just like we do…they have just unmasked it for what it really is and they act in spite of it. They don’t give in. Keep pushin on Quinn. I know you can do it. We all have fear creeping around but once we realize it’s like being afraid of the dark and have the courage to just go and turn the light on the darkness disappears and we realize we made up stuff in our head. I have fear…so do all other professionals and business owners. Just push through it. Thanks for being my friend Quinn. I truly do appreciate it.
