How to Overcome Fear In Your Life Once and For All

Posted on 23. Mar, 2011 by in Creator

Rich folks have fear too.

Wealthy folks have fear too.

Poor people have fear too.

Americans have fear too.

Top selling artists have fear too.

Students have fear too.

NFL players have fear too.

Top Network Marketers have fear too.

Business owners have fear too.

I have fear too.

And if you’re honest…you do too.

So how do you overcome fear once and for all in your life?Very simple.

You don’t overcome it. You simply act in spite of it. You act in the face of being afraid.

It’s not a sexy answer. It’s not a deep and profound PhD answer.

Just look at what fear does to you. Fear is one of the biggest killers of dreams. It prevents you from acting. It prevents you from taking action. It prevents you from moving forward. It prevents you from asking that guy or girl out. It prevents you from starting a business. It prevents you from going after your dreams. It prevents you from setting goals. It prevents you from writing the book. It prevents you from attending that meeting. It prevents you from hiring a coach.

If you never take action you don’t win the prize. If you never take action you never know what might could-have-been. If you never start, you never finish. And most prizes in life require action, work, stamina, persistence and a dedication that many won’t take the time to develop.

Fear prevents you from taking action. If you don’t take action you never develop skills and experience. If you don’t learn and gain experience and skills then you never get the results that action, experience and skills get you.

Example: When I wanted to gain new clients I was very scared of looking incompetent. That’s called fear. Fear of rejection, fear of looking stupid. Fear or failure. Fear of making mistakes. All these fears are made up stuff in our minds. They aren’t even real. The moment I just began calling people and marketing and talking with people yes…I sucked. I wasn’t very good. But I got better. you don’t get better by studying and going to trainings. You get better by working and doing.

The only way your child learns how to ride a bike is to get on and ride. Whatever fears they have can be swallowed up by just riding. Sure they might scrape a knee. Sure they might get a little cut. But in the end the ONLY WAY TO LEARN IS TO DO.

In your business if you’re scared of inviting people…or scared of talking with people…or scared of presenting…but you take action anyways…YOU WIN. You win because you gain experience. You win because you learn how, and what to do and what not to do for the next go around.

In relationships if you’re scared of developing a relationship with someone you’ve hurt or with someone who has hurt you humble yourself and go and make it happen. Fear is a killer. Let me repeat. Fear is a killer. It will kill and suffocate your greatest dreams, your relationships, your health, your potential and your wealth.

So how do you overcome fear?

Act in spite of fear.

Rich, wealthy, happy and successful leaders and parents and spouses all have learned this secret.

They act in spite of fear. They do it anyways.

That which people fear ends up being nothing but a mere story they made up. We make up bigger stories in our minds. We are afraid of things that either don’t exist or things we exaggerated to be untrue.

If you act and it doesn’t work out, NOW YOU KNOW and you can course correct and move forward.

Yes, this is the most simple thing in the world. Act in spite of fear.

The ONLY difference between rich and poor is that rich people act, poor people wait and watch and sit.

The ONLY difference between happy and sad is that happy people move forward and face fears and take action and sad people let fear grip them and hold them back from massive action.

How is your fear serving you right now? Scared of going after that new business because you’re scared of “what if I don’t make it, what if it doesn’t work, what if what if what if….” You see how easy it is to get stuck in that trap of making stuff up?

Once you act in spite of fear the fear is always there…you just know how to manage it and how to act. It becomes very small.

How is your fear serving you right now? Scared to set a goal because you’re scared you might not accomplish it?

Get over it and take action. You get one life to live and one chance to live it.

How has fear affected your life, your dreams, your wealth, your relationships?

What would your life look like if you just acted in spite of your fear?

So true !!! So much easier to listen to the stories in your head than to confront the fears that hold you back. Far too many people live the what if life.

Great article Setema! It has been almost 3 years since “I felt the fear and did it anyway!” My business finally took off 10 months ago. Fear kept stopping me from everything and I finally realized if I wanted financial success I had better face my fears and go after what I wanted. Thanks again for covering this subject!

I remember the movie Princes Diaries when Anne Hathaway found the letter of his late dad in his diary. Courage is not the absence of fear but knowing that there is more important than fear. I am not that strong. I have fear of heights. I am afraid of anything that crawls.

Fear is indeed a barrier that each one of us has to overcome. And I think this post could boost up ourselves in breaking that barrier and unleash our potentials.
