“Guess what I did, Daddy?” my son said to me the other day.

“What’s that?”

“I tried out for a solo part in the play!”

I was so proud when I heard that my son took the initiative signing up for an auditioned part in his school’s musical. It takes a lot of courage to step out of our comfort zone like this.

How many times do you not even attempt to try things because you’re afraid? The fear takes over?

The moment I had the proof in my hand for my book, Winning After the Game, I wanted to throw it out.

Why?

BECAUSE OF FEAR.

Fear kills more dreams than anything else. So how do we deal with this fear?

CHOOSE COURAGE.

This doesn’t mean that you no longer fear things. Courage states that in spite of the fear, push forward anyway.

Take the first step and choose courage to combat the fear.

As I’m shooting this podcast in the spring of 2016, I could not be more grateful for where I’m at right now, and it took a lot of courage to get to this place right now.

Can you be honest in choosing courage to confront those, especially those we love, in facing that which we fear, instead of cowering from it.

I have gone to war with my wife about heated discussions, and it’s made us stronger. Powerful people confront and don’t let fear dictate their lives.

The reason we don’t act on what it is that we want is because of the destruction we allow from fear instead of greatness from courage.

Fear hinders us from answering what the Voice is telling us. We will always have fear, it’s a constant gift to give us contrast and perspective. If we act with courage and confront that fear, we’ll act with power.

Ask yourself:

* Where has fear held me back from doing something?

* Who am I to NOT allow courage to give me permission?

* What can I confront in my life today with courage instead of fear?

It’s OK to be afraid; but what would it look like to walk by faith and choose courage instead?
