Since kindergarten, I wanted to be a football player.

It was a STRONG desire.

There may be some things that I desire, but are not realistic. But when it came to football, I had a deep fire inside of me to do what was required.

Growing up, I worked hard and eventually became an NFL player.

After I retired, those desires shifted, and in my case, I wanted to impact people and make great money doing it.

I didn’t really fit in because of these desires, but it didn’t take away from the impact these desires had on me.

I even prayed for God to remove these desires from my heart because it was so strong. But He had other plans, and I’m so grateful for it.

What is my desire?

To teach a lesson of empowerment.

The desires of my heart have been to live a life of contribution, loving, and making a difference.

I can’t believe that I used to want to suppress these desires in order to “fit in.”

It’s the desire to create and make a difference that needs to be enhanced, NOT passions that need to be bridled because they don’t serve you in the long run (like eating a whole chocolate cake because you desire it).

Don’t take this topic on desires out of context.

Don’t suppress the desires that serve you and others:

  1. Be real about what you want
  2. Be willing to share those desires with other people
  3. Poor gas on it and immerse yourself in attaining your desires

I am striving for greatness. In the story of Zappos, one man achieved the same kind of greatness that I desire, and so I study and immerse myself in creating my own version based off of that inspiration.

Stop suppressing and playing small.

Ask yourself:

* What are some real desires that I have of the heart?

* What stories have been holding me back from achieving these desires?

* What is one thing that I can do today to make a step toward living a fulfilling life?

If you want to live a life of making that which you a desire a reality, immerse yourself in it and do the necessary work required and you will achieve greatness.
