I have a passion for coaching, and today I was in one of my Mastermind calls with a powerful woman that sometimes doesn’t see how powerful she actually is.

One of the great parts about coaching is that I have the ability to see in others what they may not see in themselves and in this case, we were talking about soccer.

She stated that she needs to practice grace and love on the soccer field, and wasn’t able to get after her team the way that she needed to.

A powerful attorney, she felt inadequate out on the playing field.

I stepped in and felt the need to remind her that she is LEGIT.

What if showing love and grace was having the COURAGE to confront these people?   Showing them what they can’t see.

Maybe it’s about not playing small and having the courage to tell them that they can handle the truth behind their story that they need to work better.

When we change the story about something, we are able to look at the power behind  stepping up.

We all want to get pushed.

We suppress and behave based on stories, but if they’re disempowering, we inhibit our growth.

What would happen if we just acknowledged that it’s just a story? If we choose a different story that helps empower us and serve us, what could happen?

We believe our stories to be true, but do you want to know what?

It’s just a story.

It doesn’t mean that it’s not going to be hard acknowledging that how we look at something may not be accurate, but when we uncover the truth, we will have freedom and growth.

In Byron Katie‘s book, Loving What Isif one gets into inquiry and asks, “Is it true?” we are unable to uncover the truth behind what we think is true. We find in many cases that it’s just a story and not actuality.

Be honest about what you want and start to ask, “Is it true?” when you have feelings of guilt and shame that arise from the stories that you have been believing, in some cases, all your life.

Ask yourself:

* What stories have been holding me back from accomplishing growth?

* Is it true?

* What would life look like without that story in my life?

Anytime you’re running a story that brings guilt and shame, ask yourself, “Is this true?”
