Lavell Edwards Stadium ... as I remember seeing it as an 8th Grader. What are your goals, dreams, passions and visions?

The year is 1989. I’m riding my bike from football practice. I’m a skinny 8th grader. I’m riding my bike past Lavell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Ut.

It is an ESPN Thursday night game for BYU. I don’t remember who they played but I remember riding past the big buses on Canyon Road that sits parallel to the stadium and these huge mammoths were stepping off the buses. These guys were big, lean, muscular and scary looking.

Here I was a little tiny 6 foot 1 inch 150 lbs football kid watching these “All-Stars” prepare to play my beloved Cougars of BYU. I dreamed that one day I would be playing for BYU. It was my desire. It was my dream. It was a GOAL.

I wasn’t very good at football. I wasn’t fast. I wasn’t strong. I was just athletic … kind of.

I was a late bloomer. I put on 30 lbs of muscle between my sophomore year and junior year of high school.

I never missed working out. I couldn’t bench very much either. So I had to work hard to keep up.

I ate like a horse (and still couldn’t gain much weight).

I was so focused on getting a scholarship. It was my goal.

I have a small red journal that has my goals from my early high school days. In the beginning of the journal it says “Get a scholarship to BYU for football.” [...]

“Never let schooling get in the way of your education” said Mark Twain.

My take on that is…I never let school or education get in the way of my learning.

When I attended BYU right out of high school I wasn’t ready to learn.  OK, I was ready to learn about 2 things…females and football. :)

I probably read a total of 5 books during my 5 college years and I am not proud of that…however…

UVU Multi-Cultural Students and Setema Gali at the UVU Inspire Others Day.

All of that has changed now. I am a book eating machine. I devour books and courses. I listen and learn everywhere I go. My iPod is chuck full of powerful works, books, General Conference and uplifting and inspiring music.

When I had the opportunity to speak to students and faculty at UVU I jumped head first.

My message to them was simple.

What would have affected me back in my college days? Here is what I shared with them.

Create and expand your PURPOSE. When you have purpose, you have direction and a reason to push forward especially when things get very difficult and they will get difficult. [...]

Here is my 6 months journey. Where were YOU 6 months ago?

6 months ago I weighed 303 lbs. My body fat was 28.8%. Don’t believe me, click here.

6 months ago I just moved into this home that I am in now.

6 months ago I was almost finished writing my 1st Book.

6 months ago my wife was 3 months with our 2nd child.

6 months ago I was building a system, a new business.

6 months ago I couldn’t fit into most of my clothes.

6 months ago I had one of my cousin’s living with us.

6 months ago I attended the temple when time permitted.

6 months ago my marriage was amazing.

6 months later…..

Today I weigh 260 lbs and body fat is 14.4%. My goal is 250 lbs and 12% by Nov 1. I am on track. Click here to see.

Today I might be moving from this house but we shall see.

Today my book is about to go to print and become a best seller.

Today my 2nd son is 2 weeks old and his name is Izrael.

Today my business is ready to launch.

Today I fit into all my clothes and some of them are too big.

Today I have 3 cousins living with me (going to school, reinventing their life.)

Today I attend the temple twice a week and feel the power being in the Lord’s home. click here to see my AHA moment.

Today I am 9 days away from putting on my 2nd event, the One Night Transformation.

Today my marriage is even stronger, more amazing and I am the happiest man on earth!

Today is all I have. Today’s decisions will bring tomorrow’s results. I am focused on living and maximizing the current immediate moment.

Where were you 6 months ago? Are you better off today? Or are you still doing the same thing?

If you are in the same place as  you were 6 months ago, chances are you’re worse off than you were. You either progress or digress. THERE IS NO STANDING STILL! So many people put off their goals and dreams as if it’s just going to happen. You make it happen, you create it to happen or you don’t get it!

You’re growing or dying. You’re contributing or taking. You’re either giving reasons or results.

What’s holding you back from making changes in your life?

Do you really know what you want in life?

Do you have purpose and passion and clarity every day that you wake up? If not…..

I invite you to come to the event that I am putting on. It’s called the One Night Transformation.

By coming to the event I promise you in 6 months your life will be completely different. Over night, your life will be completely transformed. Mine was and I look forward to sharing with you.

“I am the man who loves his life.”

Setema Gali
